TOURNAMENT RULES & INFORMATION

Hello Coaches, Players, Parents, Directors, & Umpires,

Thank you for participating in the Cheyenne Extreme Weekend 2026 Tournament! We hope everyone has a fun, competitive, and memorable weekend.

GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

•This is a USSSA Girls Fastpitch Class B/C & Open Qualifier Tournament.

• By entering this tournament, all participants acknowledge they are participating at their own risk and will not hold tournament staff, complexes, organizations, or recreation departments liable for injury or damages.

• This is a non-protest tournament. Any disputes will be settled by the Umpires and/or UIC before play resumes. Their decision is FINAL.

• Tournament officials reserve the right to modify schedules or tournament format due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

• In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the tournament.

SPORTSMANSHIP & CONDUCT

• ZERO TOLERANCE for negative behavior towards umpires, coaches, tournament staff, and field supervisors.

• Coaches, players, parents, and spectators are expected to always demonstrate sportsmanship.

• Any coach, player, or spectator ejected from a game will serve:

• The remainder of the current game
• Plus one additional game suspension

• Suspensions may carry over into future tournaments.

• Alcohol is prohibited at all public parks and youth events.

• Smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco are prohibited within the complexes.

FIELD & FACILITY RULES

• Gates will open approximately 60 minutes before the first scheduled game.

• No warm-ups or practice inside the infield/baselines before games.

• Teams may warm up behind temporary fencing or in designated warm-up areas.

• Please clean dugouts and spectator areas after each game (responsibility of teams and their spectators).

• No artificial noise makers are permitted.

• Music is allowed as long as it does not interfere with surrounding games. Please be respectful.

• No metal cleats on turf fields.

• No sunflower seeds.

• No trailer or camper parking allowed in these lots. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.

GAME RULES

• USSSA rules will apply unless otherwise stated in these tournament rules. It is the coach’s responsibility to review these rules and understand them.

• All bats must meet USSSA 1.20 BPF standards (See USSSA Rule 2 Section 10).

• Only USSSA optic yellow softballs will be used.

• Umpires will provide game balls.

• Coaches or team representatives must check in before their first scheduled game.

• Lineup cards are required and must be provided to both the umpire and opposing team (USSSA Rule 5, Section A). Lineup cards shall include first name, last name, jersey number, and position in the batting order of each starting player.

• During pool play, teams may use free defensive substitution while batting the entire roster.

• Guest players are permitted but MUST be added to the official USSSA roster.

• Teams may have a maximum of two guest players.

• New pitchers receive 5 warm-up pitches. Returning pitchers receive 2 warm-up pitches.

• Home team will be the official score keeper.

• Homerun balls will be put back into play.

LINEUP RULES

• All eligible players must always be listed on your on-line roster and a signed hard copy with you.

• If your team’s roster is challenged, you will be required to show proof of eligibility.

PLAYING SHORT

• Teams may begin with 8 players.

• If playing with 8 players, the 9th batting position will be recorded as an automatic out.

• No automatic outs will be taken unless:

• A team begins short-handed, OR
• A player is ejected.

• If a player is ejected, her lineup position will remain an out for the remainder of the game.

TIME LIMITS & RUN RULES

• Pool and bracket games will be 75 minutes.

• Championship games will be 90 minutes or 7 innings.

• No new inning will begin after time expires.

• Umpires maintain official game time.

• Saturday pool games may end in a tie.

• Sunday bracket games must produce a winner. ITB (International Tie Breaker) rules will apply if necessary.

• Run Rule (12U, 14U, 16U and 18U):

• 10 runs after 3 innings
• 8 runs after 4 innings
• 6 runs after 5 innings

• 8U and 10U EXCEPTIONS:

• 6 runs per inning or 3 outs, whichever occurs first.

SATURDAY POOL PLAY RULES

• Home team will be determined by coin flip.

• Pool games are NOT drop-dead.

• If the home team is ahead and the visiting team cannot mathematically catch up, the game is over, but the current batter will finish the at-bat.

• Pool games may end in a tie after fair ups are completed.

• Pool games may use free substitution, and teams may bat their entire lineup.

SUNDAY BRACKET PLAY RULES

• Higher seed will be home team throughout bracket play.

• If teams are equally seeded, home team will be determined by coin flip.

• Bracket games are NOT drop-dead.

• Sunday games require a winner.

• Teams listed on top of the bracket will occupy the 3rd base dugout unless already occupied from the previous game.

SCORE REPORTING

• Winning team is responsible for reporting scores to tournament staff/check-in tent.

• Scores not reported by the conclusion of pool play may be recorded as a 7-7 tie (no changes will be made).

• No bracket changes will be made once brackets are released.

AWARDS

• Team and individual awards will be presented to Champions and Runner-Up teams in each division.

• If the tournament is unable to continue, awards will be given based on the win loss record of the last completed round of the day.

TOURNAMENT COMMUNICATIONS

• Schedule updates and weather information will be communicated through USSSA/ISTS systems, email, and text messaging when possible.

• Coaches and team representatives are responsible for ensuring their contact information is correct and for communicating updates to their teams.

•In case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the tournament.

• Tournament officials reserve the right to change the tournament format to guarantee number of games due to bad weather.
