Battle of High Plains 2026 Tournament Rules

1. Team check in - Sampson field picnic shelter


2. All games will be held at Bicentennial Softball Complex


1. 300 W. Warlow Drive


2. All softball fields with be used: 


1. F1- F4


2. Goat Roper (GR) 


3. Sampson (S)


3. Use DAK Score app to control scoreboards


3. Team manager will be responsible for their players and fans at all times.


4. Game balls will be furnished by the tournament director. 


5. Each team is responsible for their own first aid supplies


6. Umpire in Charge (UIC)

2. All protests will be handled by the Umpire in Charge (UIC) and that decision will be final.

1. All Players must be rostered with USSSA


1. Guest Players are allowed but MUST be added to your USSSA roster


2. All players must be insured (USA or USSSA is acceptable)


3. All Team coaches and volunteers must have passed a background check and be safesport certified


9. Rain Out Info will be posted on USSSA, Facebook (Gillette Blue Jays)

REPORTING SCORES: 

1. WINNING TEAM MUST REPORT TO THE SAMPSON FIELD PICNIC SHELTER OR TEXT 307.299.6440 or 307.660.6653


2. Please include age division, field name, winner and scores

GAME INFO: 

1. USSSA rules will be used with the following exceptions or clarifications:


1. No auto out in the batting line-up for any reason (including only playing with 8 players) EXCEPT if a player has been ejected.


1. If a player is ejected, she will be out each time in the lineup (Sat & Sun)


2. Lineup cards are required for the ump and opposing team


2. Please hustle in and out to speed up the game


2. Run Rule: applies to entire tournament including Championship game 


1. Third inning - 12 runs


2. Fourth inning - 10 runs


3. Fifth inning - 8 runs


3. 10 and Under Rules


1. 5 run limit per inning - MAX


2. Bat the roster


3. Free Defensive Substitution for all positions


4. 12u, 14u, High School


1. Bat Roster OR refer to USSSA's Rule 5 Section 1 for info on the DP/Flex and/or 2 AP's


2. Free Defensive Substitution for all positions (ONLY if batting entire roster)


5. Pool Play: Friday & Saturday 


1. All games are coin flip


2. 2 game guarantee


3. Game time limit of 75 minutes


1. Be prepared to take the field if games get ahead or behind 


2. Finish the inning


3. Pool play games can end in a tie


1. Teams ending in a tie: each team gets ½ loss and ½ win




6. Bracket Play: Saturday & Sunday


1. Bracket Seeding


1. Winning percentage - Descending (a tie is worth half a win)


2. Head to Head if ALL the tied teams have played each other


3. Average Runs Allowed - Ascending


4. Average Run Differential with a maximum of (8) - Descending


5. USSSA Points - Descending


6. Date Team Entered USSSA Database


2. Higher seed is always home throughout the bracket. If teams are the same seed, coin-flip


3. Double Elimination 


4. 75 Minutes games


5. Tie-breaker rules apply


6. Championship game


1. 7 innings or 90 minutes (whichever is 1st)

Full refund if tournament is canceled.

Cancelation of games due to weather will be refunded at $50 per unplayed game.

No refunds outside of weather exception will be granted after May 17th, 2026
